Top 6 apps to use for cosplay

This may seem basic for some but to help those who may be just starting the hobby it’s good to get as many resources as possible.

1. Instagram - is one of the big ones since the it is the main social media platform you can find most cosplayers. There you’ll be able to reach the main demographic and meet other cosplayers. As Instagram is mainly about posting pictures it has many cosplayers showing off their work which can lead you to meeting likeminded individuals where you can help one another out. This also gives you a platform to create your own cosplay page where you can share your own cosplays and progress. There is a huge community of cosplayers on Instagram and you would be missing out on meeting and interacting with likeminded individuals.

2. YouTube - it's one of the largest video-sharing platforms and has a multitude of videos to help people who cosplay. YouTube will provide a vast number of tutorials and will cover almost everything cosplay related. YouTube is a great source of information and if you’re struggling with part of your cosplay or want to learn a new skill for cosplay - YouTube is an invaluable tool for cosplayers.

3. Reddit - reddit is another great place where there are many cosplayers who post there progress and their complete cosplays. What puts reddit on this list is that you can post a public question within a subreddit called cosplayprops where if you posts question you will get a few detailed responses over the next few days.

4. Amino - what Amino has going for it is the community aspect. There are plenty of community groups and the one for cosplay is another great place to get feedback and help from your fellow cosplayers. In addition it also helps to grow your online presence as the more you interact with others the more recognisable you will become in the vast sea of cosplayers.

5. Facebook - this one isn’t an essential as you are more likely to get more active interactions on the other social media platforms. However there are groups in their created for cosplays for specific franchises. This is a good place to look for events such as cosplay meet-ups and photoshoots, for either at a convention or even an outdoor event.

6. Cosplay Central - is an app that is mainly used to help keep you organised. The app allows you create an personalised list of what cosplays you want to do and let you keep track of the progress. You can add prices of materials and props etc and it will keep track of how much the completed cosplay will cost.

Hopefully these apps will make your journey into cosplay a little easier in terms of tutorials, further integrating yourself within the community and organisation. If you have any questions feel free to message me.
